OBJECTIVE: REPLACE DBE CERTIFICATION BENEFITS BY
OBTAINING ALTERNATIVE CREDENTIALS AND ENTERING
NEW NETWORKS.
Steps:
1. Research and apply for other certifications with the Small
Business Administration. https://www.sba.gov/federal-contracting
Why It Matters: Certifications outside of DBE programs can still grant access
to private-sector opportunities and build credibility.
3. STRENGTHEN DIRECT RELATIONSHIPS WITH PRIMES
AND AGENCIES
OBJECTIVE: BUILD STRONG, INDEPENDENT
PARTNERSHIPS THAT DON’T RELY SOLELY ON DBE
REQUIREMENTS.
Steps:
1. Identify prime contractors that prioritize small business relationships.
2. Network directly with decision-makers at industry events and
matchmaking sessions.
3. Offer added value by showcasing your track record, expertise, and
unique capabilities.
Why It Matters: Focusing on your business’s value beyond DBE status
positions you as an indispensable partner.
