SESSION 1 | INTRODUCTION
Session 1 Goal: Goal Setting and Relationship Building
Activity: The facilitator and participants meet to introduce themselves, share
profiles, and discuss their work experiences and responsibilities. They also
explore the participants’ career aspirations, strengths, and areas for
development. Together, they establish 3-5 SMART (specific, measurable,
achievable, relevant, and time-bound) goals for the participants to pursue
over the next 6 months.
Outcome: Establish a strong foundation for the relationship and clarity on
goals.

the next 6 months through this
mentoring relationship?
Draft and submit a SMART goal
proposal (SGP) using the provided
template.
Update SMART goals per
recommendations.
Review questions and provide
feedback.
Review the participant's SMART goals
proposal (SGP) using the provided
template for guidance.
Provide feedback and suggestions to
refine the participant’s goals and
ensure they are specific, measurable,
achievable, relevant, and time-bound.
